The Discoverable app has combined previously-fragmented data from various providers into a single deeply-layered platform.
We have built this platform to demonstrate the historically relevant data there is about the world we live in. Social media has distracted us and it is our goal to improve our technological relationship with reality. We believe we can help achieve this by re-awakening a sense of pride, culture and curiosity with our historic centres.
Our data has been sourced from OpenStreetMap & contributors and the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (NIAH). For Kilkenny, we have also sourced data from BlueSky Geospatial Ltd, Kilkenny Coco and others.
In general, we do not associate any personal information with our features. The only exception to this rule is for historically or culturally relevant events. For example, this building was constructed by X or entertainment Y is playing here tonight.
Using point data from NIAH and polygon data from OSM, we have combined various data sources geospatially. The data we have gathered includes the non-accurate and approximate shape of buildings, streets, and other geographic features in the available locations. This data is an approximation and should not be used for legal purposes. Several Heritage Officers from Cork City Council have been asked to review a sample of the data we have sourced.
This information is likely to change and improve soon as the platform becomes more developed.
